Retiring Leinster and Ireland full-back Girvan Dempsey will be given official recognition of his career achievements next Wednesday, when he will be inducted into the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame.

Dempsey will join other past heroes of Irish rugby including Mick Galwey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood.

In total, Dempsey was capped 82 times for Ireland with the first coming as a replacement against Georgia in November 1998.

The Leinster man played in two World Cups for Ireland and will be most remembered for his superb try against England at Twickenham in 2004 which assisted the national team in lifting a first Triple Crown since 1985.
