Real Madrid have agreed to sign Benfica and Argentina starlet Angel Di Maria on a six-year deal.
It has been confirmed on Real Madrid’s website that the 22-year-old Di Maria, who plays as a left winger, will move to the Bernabeu from Benfica for a reported fee of 25million euros.
Di Maria joined Benfica from Argentinian side Rosario Central in 2007 for €8m and scored 12 goals from 82 matches. He has earned 12 caps for his country.
Diego Maradona said of Di Maria earlier this year, “Angel has the quality to be a worldwide superstar within the next two years. I have always followed his career closely and his level has increased enormously since he’s been in Europe.”
Di Maria will be Jose Mourinho’s first signing as Real Madrid manager.
