Springboks scrum-half Fourie Du Preez is likely to miss the rest of the season after his decision to have shoulder surgery next week.
The 28-year-old Blue Bulls player will be told by the South African management to concentrate on returning to full fitness for the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand, according to reports. Du Preez will miss out on the Springboks’ Vodacom Tri Nations tournament with New Zealand and Australia which runs from 10 July to 11 September.
With the Springboks number nine shirt now up for grabs it is thought that Ricky Januarie and Ruan Pienaar are the likely candidates to replace Du Preez.
