Keith Earls will not be travelling with the Ireland rugby squad for the summer tour to New Zealand and Australia.
Earls has been training with the squad in Limerick this week but a recurring groin injury has put an end to his involvement with the Ireland squad for the summer tests.
Connacht’s Gavin Duffy will now step into Earls’ place for the tour from 4-26 June.
Earls joins Paul O’Connell, Rory Best and Kevin McLaughlin on the injury list of players which have been ruled out of the tour.
Ireland take on the Barbarians in Thomond Park on Friday night.
