Are you sick of watching manufactured bands rise to the top of the charts with their lip-synced dribble? Well now you can watch your own band rise to the height of stardom.
Band Boss is a great time-sucking app developed in the UK by Jack Herbert and might staying up for 48 hours at a time making sure your band reaches the big time – it’s that addictive. You literally won’t see time slipping away from you, as this is easily one of the more time-consuming apps going.
It’s a simulation game so think of it as Football Manager (without the football obviously). The game is pretty much all text, and the characters are just pixelated little blobs, but it’s surprising how fun it gets.
We all know (or read off the Internet) that bands can only increase their popularity by releasing new music – lots of new music. But that costs money and the only way you can generate money these days is by touring. However, if you’re touring you can’t make new music.
So it’s your job to take a group of nobodies and find the perfect balance of making new songs and touring at the same time. If and when you find that sweet spot your crew will become mega rich super stars with you at the helm.

We never said that the graphics would be award-winning, did we?
Alternatively, you can manage a more known band or solo artist as they record albums and singles, tour around the world and take vacations for some well deserved R&R.
The only problem with the gam – well, with any simulation game really – is that you have to be in the mood to play it. If you don’t feel like devoting most of your day to playing around with your iPhone or if your looking for something as snappy as Angry Birds, then this might not be for you.
However, if you’re looking for something different than the usual Farmville/Angry Birds type games then look no further because you’ll love Band Boss.
The app is reasonably priced at only €0.79 and is available through the Apple App Store. Sadly it isn’t available on Android just yet but hopefully it’ll be there soon.
