Social networking website, Facebook, has introduced a new feature that makes it easier for users to permanently delete their accounts, according to technology blog Slashdot.
The “Deactivate Account†button has been unearthed from the FAQ section of the Help Centre and is now more accessible under the Account Settings tab. A new heading labeled “Deactivate or Delete your Account†now appears for a select amount of users.
The new feature will eventually be rolled out to all 500 million Facebok users.
Accounts can be instantly deleted by users, unlike the previous system which took two weeks for a users account to be fully terminated.
“We are constantly testing new ideas,†said a Facebook spokesman. “One of these recent tests included variations of the delete-account option for a very small percentage of users.â€
