Paul McGinley’s worrying choice of jacket yesterday was merely carrying on a tradition of terrible outfits in what must be the most sartorially shambolic event in sport.
Golf has never had much of a reputation for leading the way in the sporting fashion stakes, but much like the Ryder Cup brings out the best in Ian Poulter, it also brings out the very worst in both the European and American teams when it comes to style on a biennial basis.
We’ve selected some of the worst offerings from both teams over the years in the gallery above; needless to say you’d have to go a fairway to find threads worse than these, the outfits are anything but swinging and we’d rather wear jackets with a hole in one rather than some of the efforts on show here.
