Manchester United’s young stars have been once again grounded by their manager Alex Ferguson, after he banned them from receiving free supercars.
There’s no denying who the boss is at Old Trafford as Alex Ferguson has once again put his foot down by not letting the younger stars of the squad put theirs down.
As we all know by now, the American car manufacturer Chevrolet recently signed a multi-million pound deal which will see them become United’s new shirt sponsors for the 2014-2015 season.
Naturally, Chevrolet offered the first team players their pick of any Chevy for free, but Fergie has banned anyone under the age of 23 from availing of a free Chevrolet Corvette (pictured above) – one of the most iconic American muscle cars of our time.
That means lads like Danny Welbeck, 21, Phil Jones, 20, Chris Smalling, 22, and Rafael, 22 will all have to settle for something a little more ‘toned down’. In fairness, the Corvette can reach top speeds of 315 kph, so you can see why Ferguson has his worries.
Yesterday, a spokesperson for the club confirmed, ‘As with most automotive partnerships, Chevrolet will be offering players a car. The model will be dependent on their time at the club and driving experience.’
