Fermanagh advanced to the semi-finals of the Ulster football championship after a three point win over Cavan at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday evening.

A Ryan Carson goal with only minutes remaining proved to be the difference between the sides and it was fitting that the big full forward delivered the killer blow as he was a thorn in the Cavan defence all evening.

Paul Ward and Ryan McCloskey also performed well for the Ernesiders, while David Givney and Gareth Smith impressed for Cavan in what was a tight and competitive encounter throughout.

Malachy O’ Rourke’s men will now face Seamus McEnaney’s Monaghan in the Ulster semi-final in a fortnight’s time.
