Fisher shoots 61 to lead 3 Irish Open

England’s Ross Fisher has hit a ten-under-par round of 61 to take the lead in the 3 Irish Open in Killarney this afternoon.

Fisher put in a sterling display today with ten birdies and eight pars in the second round of the Irish Open and now heads up the leaderboard at 12-under-par for the tournament.

Italy’s Francesco Molinari lies a clear second on nine-under-par after he shot a solid 66 this afternoon.

Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Michael Hoey are tied with six other players for third on seven-under-par. Harrington hit a round of four under today, while McIlroy stayed with the pace with a 68.

Next best for the Irish are Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley who are both six shots off the lead on six-under-par with Paul Lawrie on five under for the tournament.

Damien McGrane dropped back to five-under-par for the tournament. A score which is the projected cut mark.
