France has been chosen to host Euro 2016 in a UEFA vote today.
The French, who will host the tournament for the third time, have fended off bids from Turkey and Italy.
A budget of 1.7 billion euro for stadium development was projected by the French and UEFA have found their bid the most realistic.
Inspections visits in Italy were critical, while the untried Turkish have been shied away from by UEFA.
France President Nicolas Sarkozy attended the ceremony in Geneva to support the country’s bid and sat with former France captain and current UEFA President Michel Platini.
