The drama at Anfield last night simply didn’t stop. Atletico visited Anfield with a slender 1-0 aggregate lead, and it was the reds who drew first blood with Alberto Aquilani firing home on the stroke of half time.
The second half proved frustrating for Liverpool and extra-time was inevitable. Yossi Benayoun hit an early effort in extra time to send Anfield bananas, but former Manchester United forward Diego Forlan returned to haunt Liverpool with a goal in the final quarter to send the Spaniards through.
Heartbreak for Liverpool and an all-English final was missed out on, but what a game it was.
