Galway chiefs have decided against a boycott, and have agreed to play the All-Ireland under-21 final against Tipperary in Semple Stadium, Thurles.

The county board had previously threatened to boycott the match, believing that it should be moved to a neutral venue. They even met with GAA director general Paraic Duffy to discuss the issue last Friday, though the GAA decided to keep Semple Statium as the venue.

“We are very unhappy with the way all this has been handled and we want all of that examined but for now it is a matter on concentrating on the game on Saturday. We are very angry about the whole matter,” said Galway hurling board chairman Joe Byrne.

The match will take place on 11 September at 7pm.
