Manchester United’s American owners have announced in a statement that the club is not for sale and that they, “will not entertain any offersâ€.
There had been widespread reports that the Glazers might consider a bid from supporter-led group, dubbed the ‘Red Knights’, which had been moving to secure control of the club.
However, a statement from the Glazers poured cold water on supporters’ hopes that the Americans might be set to leave Old Trafford.
The statement read, ‘The board noted recent press speculation regarding a possible bid for Manchester United.
‘The owners remain fully committed to their long-term ownership of the club. Manchester United is not for sale and the owners will not entertain any offers.’
Overall debt at OId Trafford currently stands at £520.9million – before the payment-in-kind (PIK) notes introduced by the Glazer family and which currently attract 16.25% interest, are factored in.
However, figures disclosed in the Glazers’ statement showed growth in all revenue streams bar matchday receipts, which are down by £1million on the same three month period last year.
