Former Rangers and Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong has signed for Greek side Panathinaikos, despite interest shown from West Ham, according to reports.
Boumsong had been told that his contract, which has one year left to run, would not be renewed which alerted Avram Grant and Hamburg manager Armin Veh.
The 30-year-old has agreed to sign for Panathinkaikos, however, and will line up alongside fellow countrymen Djibril Cisse and Sidney Govou
Boumsong has 27 caps for France, and previously played for Rangers, Juventus and Newcastle.
