Gabriel Heinze has declared that Argentina have more to offer than just a talented Lionel Messi on the world stage in South Africa.
Marseille defender Heinze has talked up his international team-mate but has put emphasis on team spirit in Argentina’s bid to win the World Cup.
“Everybody expects something whenever Lionel touches the ball, that’s normal, he’s the best in the world and is in his best moment, but Argentina do not depend on him but on the group,†Heinze told the Daly Mail.
“It’s incredible what he does but he is one more player and he can make mistakes.
“I believe it’s the team that makes you win these very difficult tournaments.â€
Argentina are in a cushy Group B alongside Greece, South Korea and Nigeria, who they face in their World Cup opener on Saturday in Johannesburg.
