Roy Hodgson has been confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool FC.

The former Fulham manager has signed a three year contract at the club and will oversee the first day of pre-season training on Thursday morning before being officially unveiled in the afternoon.

“This is the biggest job in club football and I’m honoured to be taking on the role of manager of Britain’s most successful football club,” said Hodgson.

“I look forward to meeting the players and the supporters and getting down to work at Melwood,” he added.

Hodgson had been in charge at Craven Cottage since December 2007 and guided the London club to a UEFA Cup final appearance against Atletico Madrid last season. He replaces Rafael Benitez at Anfield after Benitez left the club by mutual consent last month.
