Hollywood director Tony Scott dies aged 68

Tony Scott, the man who brought us the likes of ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Man on Fire’, has died at the age of 68.

We have some sad news to bring you this morning, as the legendary filmmaker Tony Scott is reported to have died yesterday afternoon after taking his own life.

The 68-year-old was seen parking his car on the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles yesterday at 7.30pm Irish time, before jumping into the water below.

Tony Scott, originally from North Shields in northeast England, was the younger brother of the famous director Ridley Scott. The pair were working on the film Killing Lincoln together, which is set to feature Daniel Day Lewis, before the tragedy occurred.

Tony directed such classic movies as Top Gun, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire, Déjà vu and The Taking of Pelham 123. He also produced on the likes of Prometheus, The Good Wife, Killing Lincoln and Numb3rs.
