HTC has announced two new Android phones for the European market; the Desire HD and the Desire Z.
The announcements were made at a special press conference in London today and included the introduction of a cloud back-up service for HTC users called HTCSense.com.
The Desire HD had been rumoured for some time and will be HTC’s flagship handset when it goes on sale in Europe. The Phone is made from aluminium and boasts a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with dual flash, a 4.3 high definition LCD screen, Dolby Mobile and Wireless N Wi-Fi.
The Desire Z is a mid-range handset with a slider design and a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone also sports a 5 megapixel camera, wireless N Wi-Fi and the ability to record HD video and will be available alongside the Desire HD sometime in October.

Both phones will feature the latest version Android (2.2 or Fro-YO as it’s commonly known) and HTC’s custom user interface and cloud service HTC Sense. The new handsets will also feature new technology that HTC claim will increase average battery life to more than a day.
HTCSence.com offer a variety of services to users including: automatic backup of all data including text messages, email, photos and contacts; the locate feature will allow you to trigger the phone to ring even if is on silent and if you are unlucky enough to have your shiny new toy stolen you can pinpoint its location on a map as well as locking the handset and sending remote texts.
No prices or carriers have been announced for either phone but Vodafone looks like it might have some exclusivity deals in place in Italy.
