Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta believes Wednesday night’s World Cup semi-final against Germany will be “a beautiful battleâ€.
Iniesta played a significant role in Spain’s solitary goal in Saturday night’s dramatic quarter-final victory over Paraguay, scored by David Villa.
The win sets up a rematch of the Euro 2008 final which Spain edged on a 1-0 scoreline, but while the Spaniards remain marginal favourites, the Germans have undoubtedly been the tournament’s most impressive side.
Barcelona star Iniesta said, “Quite apart from their results, the Germans are playing brilliantly, so they must be tremendously motivated.
“It will be a game between two rivals who enjoy having the ball and I think it will be a beautiful battle.â€
