Serie A giants Inter Milan are rumoured to be preparing a sensational swoop for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill in January.
Cahill, 25, has attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the past and made his international debut for England against Bulgaria on Friday.
According to a report on fcinternews.it, the Milan club have been monitoring Cahill’s performances for some time and were impressed with his performance against Bulgaria in England’s opening Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley.
Manager of the Nerazzurri, Rafa Benitez, will also be well aware of Cahill’s ability, having spent six years in the Premier League in charge of Liverpool.
Cahill scored five goals in 29 appearances for the Trotters last season and was reportedly in line for a place in England’s World Cup squad before being ruled out with an arm injury. His value is said to have risen to £17.5 million on the back of his international debut in accordance with a get-out clause in his Bolton contract.
