Has anyone heard of the newest evolution in extreme sports called Taser Ball? It consists of a giant oversized football and eight 300,000-volt stun guns.
Yes that’s right, stun guns. It might sound like someone has been smoking too much of the Devils lettuce, but Taser Ball isn’t just the brainchild of a group of stoners. It’s a ‘real’ sport.
It’s so ‘real’ that 25-year-old Eric Prum, one of the co-founders of the sport, goes out of his way to tell people that Taser Ball is not a publicity stunt or a practical joke – it’s totally real bro.
“It’s a calculated risk,” said Prum when asked why anyone would incorporate stun guns into an athletic sport. “[The other founders] talked about it a lot and I thought to myself, ‘back when I was in college, if I saw something on TV like this, would I turn away?
“The answer is no, I’d definitely watch and probably get my roommate to check it out, too.”
Well, he’s got a point. As ridiculous as the whole thing sounds, we couldn’t help but find the accompanying videos totally mesmerising. It’s eight grown men running around using Tasers each other, all while playing football with a giant ball. What more could you want?
