Irish families spend around 17 hours a week in each other company, 12 of which are spent in front of the TV. So where do the other five go?

According to a new survey recently published, Irish families spend little time together as a group, but when we do we’d rather be distracted by whatever is going on in Coronation Street or the X-Factor rather than listening to each others sh*tty problems.

The survey, conducted by Argos, also discovered that around 53 per cent of Irish families consider themselves to be “sedentary” layabouts, or lazy b*stards as it was more than likely put.

Apparently we spend up to five hours a week doing other things together, but if it takes you an hour to eat your dinner then we can see how those extra hours rack up.

Many parents said their kids would rather watch TV and play video games than go outside, and who could blame them with the picture quality that we have today? The display is so real lifelike, why bother going outside?

In all seriousness, it’s imperative to bring the little nippers out for a bit of fresh air, so make sure to drag them away from the 52” 3D LCD for at least 30 minutes everyday.

Once that’s done you can go back to spending time with the family – in front of the X-Factor that is.
