Is Ireland getting a better bailout deal? No… we’re not

There has been a lot of chatter about Ireland getting a better bail out deal as of late, which frankly would be great news… if only it were true.

The European Commission has dismissed a report suggesting the Troika is considering on giving our little emerald isle a bit of a break, by giving us a better bailout deal.

Basically, there have been rumours floating around that Ireland might be getting a little longer than was first proposed to pay back our debts. However, according to a Commission spokesman, the recent report which claimed Ireland would have more time to pay back its debts was “simply not true”. But why can’t we have more time? We’re good for it… we swear!

The rumours started on the back of an RTÉ report that claimed Ireland may be given an extra 15 years to pay off its debts, but we know now that it isn’t going to happen.

According to BreakingNews.ie a Government spokesman said that it had received no proposal from the Troika regarding an extension.

He did say that extensions are being currently sought after, and that the Government was working on renegotiating a new deal. So at least they’re doing something.
