Jamie T, Man’s Machine. Download here
Jamie Alexander Treays, better known by his stage name Jamie T, has been building something of a cult following since dropping his debut album Panic Prevention in 2007. The Londoner, who proved to be one of the star performers at this year’s Oxegen Festival, followed it up last year with another indie/post-punk revival classic in Kings and Queens.
The track that garnered the most airplay from his latest album was the single, Emily. Which is rather unfortunate for Jamie in that it’s chick-fodder rubbish and totally out of sync with the rest of his album. A far superior offering, and one which gives a better impression of what the chap’s music is actually like, was the second-to-last single, Man’s Machine. Ignore the slightly homo-erotic name and the slow intro. This one is well worth a spin.

The National, Bloodbuzz Ohio. Download here
Brooklyn-based indie rockers The National have been fighting the good fight across the pond for over a decade now, but are yet to receive the sort of props they undoubtedly deserve.
Bloodbuzz Ohio combines masterful lyrics, a catchy beat and Matt Berninger’s baritone-on-ice vocals to produce what has to be one of their most instantly likeable tunes to date. DJs have no excuse not to play this track. Before you check out their video below however, we have to warn you that Berninger has a beard. As in as proper, Grizzly Adams beauty.

Lupe Fiasco, Solar Midnite. Download here
Lupe Fiasco is one of the few bright lights discernable at the end of the dark tunnel that is the ultra-commercialised US hip hop today. All the more strange then, that this latest offering found its way onto the Twilight Saga soundtrack as a bonus tune.
Fiasco has struggled to reproduce the sort of genius he treated us to with tracks like Kick, Push from his Grammy nominated Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor album. This latest track however, hints that the return to form the world really needs may finally arrive.
