The 56,000 students set to receive their Junior Cert results today have been urged “not to put themselves and others at risk”.
By Robert Carry
The call came from Minister for Education Mary Coughlan today just hours before results become available at 4pm.
Coughlan also added that Ireland’s prospects for building the much talked-about knowledge economy have received a major boost with the news that over 88 per cent of junior students took science as a subject at Junior Cert in 2010, while the proportion of students taking higher level maths increased to 45 per cent.
The Tánaiste added, “These subjects are both important for the knowledge economy, and I hope that students who did well in these areas will continue with science subjects when planning their subject choices for their Leaving Certificate and sit maths at higher level.â€
Students will be able to access their examination results online at www.examinations.ie from 4pm today, quoting their Personal Identification Number (PIN) and Examination Number.
Coughlan concluded, “I hope students getting their results today celebrate sensibly with their families and friends. They should celebrate with pride, but also take care not to put themselves or others at risk.â€
