Juventus have announced that they have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of Danish international midfielder Christian Poulsen.

With the future of Javier Mascherano uncertain, Roy Hodgson had been linked with a move for Poulsen in recent weeks to bolster his midfield options.

An extremely detailed statement on Juventus’ official website read: “Juventus Football Club announces that an agreement has been finalized with Liverpool F.C. for the disposal of the registration rights of the player Christian Poulsen for a consideration of € 5.475 million to be paid in two instalments: € 2.725 million immediately upon the execution of the contract and € 2.75 million on 1 July 2011.”

The arrival of Poulsen is likely to hasten Mascherano’s departure from Anfield, with Barcelona and Inter Milan linked with the Argentinean captain.
