Mentalist and illusionist Keith Barry believes he can help his native Waterford win the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, and has offered his services to the County Board.

Barry, who is best known for his television shows Close Encounters with Keith Barry and Deal or no Deal, believes he can help Waterford win the All-Ireland.

He believes that if he could have one-on-one sessions with the players that he could help them get the Kilkenny monkey off their backs.

“There’s got to be some element of baggage from that All-Ireland loss,” the 33-year old said.

“By talking to each player, by focusing their minds on the challenge of achieving success rather than dwelling on the obstacle provided by one particular set of opponents, I’d effectively neutralise Kilkenny.

“Not a single Waterford supporter wants to go through what happened in the 2008 final again.”

Waterford, who haven’t won the All-Ireland in 51 years, take on Tipperary in the SHC semi-final this Sunday in Croke Park.
