The news we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived… there’s going to be an Anchorman sequel. Don’t act like you’re not impressed.

After years of speculation and online rumours it was finally revealed on the Conan O’Brien Show last night that the world will be graced with a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Like the last movie, this one is also based on actual events. Only the names, locations and events have been changed.

The good news was revealed after Will Farrell – dressed as Ron Burgundy – showed up at Conan’s late night talk show. After some flute miming that would put Britney Spears to shame, Will made the announcement in a typical Burgundy fashion:

“I want to announce this to all of our friends in the Americas, Spain, Turkey and the U.K. — including England — that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount pictures and myself … have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman’.”

As you could imagine, the crowd went wild at the thoughts of a second Anchorman, but you can see it all for yourself in the video below.

According to Deadline.com, all the original cast, including Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner, will return to once again take the form of the Action 4 News Team.

We can also expect the same comedy genius from the upcoming sequel after it was revealed that Farrell will be co-writing the script. After being given such gems as “For just one night let’s not be Co-workers. Let’s be Co-people” and “I’m gonna punch you in the ovary, that’s what I’m gonna do, a straight shot, right to the baby maker,” it will be interesting to see what happens.

No word yet as to when the movie is expected to hit the big screen, but we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.
