Record chaser Miroslav Klose is an injury doubt for Germany’s third-place-playoff encounter against Uruguay.
Klose sustained a back injury during Germany’s semi-final to Spain in Durban on Wednesday.
“Klose has problems with his back,” said German coach Hansi Flick.
“He was hurt in an aerial duel, and we are hoping that he will be OK for the match.”
The 32-year-old Bayern Munich centre-forward is only one goal behind Ronaldo’s all-time World Cup record of 15 goals.
Captain Philipp Lahm is also a slight doubt but should be fit.
“Do not worry, it would astonish me if I wasn’t ready for this match, it is not as serious as all that,” said Lahm.
“And also I have time to rest and the body can absorb the pain during a day off.”
