Warner Bros. Pictures gets set to bring the LEGO brand to the big screen for the first time in an original 3D animated feature.

The first-ever full length, theatrical LEGO movie will open worldwide in February, 2014. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. Are you as excited as we are?

All the pieces are in place to make the 3D computer animated adventure which will be directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller from their original screenplay. The story is being written by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, based on LEGO Construction Toys.

The movie looks set to incorporate some of the LEGO world’s most popular figures while introducing several new characters, inviting fans who have enjoyed the brand’s innovative toys and hugely popular video games for generations to experience their visually unique LEGO world as never seen before.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller previously teamed up on the hit “21 Jump Street” and the 2009 animated comedy adventure “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. So at least we know it has the backing of the big names.

Well, in fairness, they wouldn’t give it to an amateur director now would they? An amateur would be left sh*tting bricks…
