A highway in West Virginia had an unexpected closure recently after a load of LEGO blocks were scattered across the road.

If you were a fan of LEGO when you were a kid, or if your own kid loves the miniature building blocks, then you’ll know what sheer agony walking on LEGO in your bare feet causes. However, wearing a pair of shoes and sitting in a nice big car won’t do you much good either, as they can be slippery little bastards when wet.

That’s why one lane of Interstate 79 in West Virginia had to be closed down in order to clean up a large LEGO spill over the weekend. Now, you’re probably imagining a large truck tipping over and LEGO going everywhere, right? Well, that didn’t happen.

According to Amanda Kooser for cnet.com, a Facebook user named Tiffany Lantz took responsibility for the accident, writing: “Those LEGOs belonged to my 11 yr. old son they where in totes strapped to the top of the durango they fell off strap came loose he cried it seemed like forever but I tried to recover as many as I could cause I don’t have the money to buy him anymore (sic).” Sounds like a bit of a sob story from an opportunist, but you never know.

Tiffany then went on to apologise to those who got stuck in traffic.
