Liverpool and Juventus progress in Europa League

Liverpool are safely through to the next round of the Europa League after comfortably defeating Rabotnički, while Motherwell and Juventus also progress.

A goal from David Ngog in the 22nd minute and a 40th minute Steven Gerard penalty ensured a comfortable night for Liverpool in Macedonia, as they won 2-0 in the second leg and 4-0 on aggregate.

Juventus are also through after defeating Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers in Turin, thanks to a goal from Alessandro Del Piero. The aggregate score was 3-0.

There were mixed results for Scottish clubs, as Motherwell progressed against Aalesunds F.K 4-1 on aggregate, while Hibernian crashed out 6-2 on aggregate to Slovenian side Maribor.

Elsewhere there were wins for Genk, Besiktas, Brondby, AZ, APOEL and Galatasaray.
