Liverpool and Arsenal, the two members of the Premier League’s Big Four who fell off the pace last season, will face off on the first weekend of the 2010/11 season in August.
The Anfield side have yet to announce a successor to Rafa Benitez but the new man in charge will get an early test of his side’s credentials with a home game against the Gunners.
Both defending champions Chelsea and the side they deposed as kingpins, Manchester United, begin their campaigns with home matches against newly-promoted sides – West Bromwich Albion, who are managed by Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo, visit Stamford Bridge while Old Trafford will host Newcastle United.
Following their breakthrough into the top four last season, Spurs will receive an examination of their newfound position of eminence against Manchester City, the side many believe are the long-term favourites to muscle their way into the Big Four.
Elsewhere on opening weekend, Blackpool have a home game for their first taste of the Premier League, with Wigan Athletic the visitors to Bloomfield Road, Aston Villa meet West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers host Everton, Sunderland take on Birmingham City, Stoke City visit Wolves and Fulham make the trip north to take on Bolton Wanderers.
