A young man has died in Canada after the couch he was ‘surfing’ on was involved in a head on collision.

Francois Halle is the first victim of a new craze called “couch surfing” which has become a popular sport for suburban kids who have too much time on their hands.

The deadly ‘sport’ involves one or people being towed around open roads while relaxing on a couch.

Halle, 22, was being towed around by a friend who was driving a mini-van, when the driver of the mini-van lost control and the sofa he was towing swung into the path of an on coming car.

A 21-year-old man is now being accused of dangerous driving, causing death, fleeing the scene of an accident and criminal negligence causing death, according to CBC News.

Speaking about couch surfing, one of Mr Halle’s friends told CBC News, “It’s the kind of thing that when you see it, you want to try it… we definitely like doing it; we do it often; we have a good time.”

We don’t think we need to say it, but kids… don’t try this at home.
