The Meath County Board has fudged a decision on the possibility of a replay of the controversial Leinster football final until a meeting with players on Tuesday.

The county executive had been expected to discuss the matter at a meeting on Monday night but a decision was postponed.

The Meath authorities want more time to peruse the report of referee Martin Sludden, who admitted in his official report that he made an error in awarding Meath the winning goal moments before the final whistle.

County Board chairman Barney Allen also confirmed that no decision on whether to offer Louth a replay would be taken until after a meeting with player representatives on Tuesday.

However, according to reports this morning a replay would now appear unlikely, with Meath’s players said to be reluctant to offer Louth a second chance.
