Major League Soccer outfit New York Red Bulls have confirmed the signing of former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry.
Henry, 32, brought down the curtain on his France career in ignominious circumstances, as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to South Africa which saw France finish bottom of Group A in the World Cup.
Speaking after the move to the United States was announced, Henry said, “This marks an exciting new chapter in my career and life. It is an honour to play for the New York Red Bulls.
“I am fully aware of the team’s history and my sole goal during my time here is to help win the club its first championship.
“Knowing Red Bull’s significant commitment to soccer locally and internationally, I am confident that my team-mates and I will succeed.”
