Mobile network 48 launches new deal with hilarious advert

Ireland's newest mobile network aimed at 18 to 22-year-olds has recently launched a new ad campaign featuring a hyper salesman called Eddie Gerkindich. Also pronounced Eddie Gherkin-d*ck.

Ireland’s newest mobile network aimed at 18 to 22-year-olds has recently launched a new ad campaign featuring a hyper salesman called Eddie Gerkindich. Also pronounced, Eddie Gherkin-d*ck.

If you were ever going to sell something to the 18 to 22-year-old market then you’d want to flash big words on the screen, have a bright background and get a hilarious actor to talk in their teenage jargon. That’s exactly what 48 done for their new viral ad campaign and we have to say it works a treat.

Eddie Gerkindich is the man of the hour and he comes out with some proper gems. At the start of the video he asks the viewer, ‘Does your d*ckhead phone company think you have money to burn?’ And from that point on you’re hooked to the two minute clip.

The video is promoting 48’s new data plans and Eddie tells us all about one of the ‘snacking’ data options which offers 30 minutes of internet for 15c.

For €20 per month you can get a 3GB data plan as well as unlimited calls and unlimited texts to all mobile networks.  Or a weekly data option is available for €2.50.

Finally, members can also avail of 30 minutes Internet for 15c, which is pretty good if you’re checking Facebook or Twitter. The data is only available for mobile internet use and not tethering. Basically, that means you can’t use your phone as a hotspot for other internet devices.

If you’ve never heard of 48 before, their Ireland’s newest mobile network which piggybacks on the O2 network and they offer free calls and texts for €10 a month to the 18-22 year old market.
