Met Eireann has warned that the east coast of the country may be in for a wet and wild few days as a month’s worth of rain is expected to fall in just two days.
The national weather service is expecting to see around a month’s worth of rainfall in the space of just 36-hours this week. That’s around 25mm to 50mm expected to fall between tomorrow morning and Thursday.
Residents that were affected by last year’s severe floods should stay extra vigilant as “heavy and persistent” showers are expected to bring hail and thunder with them, which may lead to some flooding later this evening.
Weather forecaster David Rogers spoke on NewsTalk this morning saying, “The rain itself will be initially heavy in the south and south east of the country.
“Then as it pushes further north the east coast will bear the brunt of the rainfall and then eventually moving into Ulster later on in the day.”
It’s not clear yet if this burst of dismal weather will be as bad as last year’s floods, the one’s that really did a number on the Dundrum Town Centre. That’s why residents have been urged to make precautions now as many homeowners are still cleaning up the mess that was left behind.
