Murphy wins silver at European Championships

17-year old Wexford swimmer Gráinne Murphy has won a silver medal in the 1500 metres freestyle at the European Championships in Budapest.

17-year old Wexford swimmer Gráinne Murphy has won a silver medal in the 1500 metres freestyle at the European Championships in Budapest.

Murphy finished on a time of 16:02:29, and broke the Irish record by an astounding eight seconds in the process. Lottie Friis of Denmark won the race, while Erika Villaecija from Spain came in third.
