Portugal winger Nani is the latest star to be ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a shoulder injury in training last week.
The collar bone injury was initially thought to be minor but tests have revealed the extent of the damage which has ruled Nani out of the tournament.
“After tests we conclude he is unfit to participate in the World Cup,” read a statement from the Portuguese Football Federation.
Portugal head coach Carlos Quieroz has called up Ruben Amorim as a replacement for the Manchester United star.
Portugal continue to prepare for World Cup Group G matches with Brazil, the Ivory Coast and North Korea.
