Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson believes that Inter Milan will not attempt to buy any Liverpool players before the end of the transfer window.
The Italian giants have long been linked with a move for want-away Argentinean midfielder Javier Mascherano, while there has been speculation in recent days, fuelled by the player’s agent, that Dutch international Dirk Kuyt is the subject of interest from the club, who are managed by ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
Hodgson, however, who has managed Inter Milan in the past, claims he has received assurances from the owner of the club, Massimo Moratti, that the Nerazzurri won’t be making any moves for either player before the end of the transfer window on 31 August.
“I spoke to Massimo Moratti about the fact they are not going to buy Liverpool players,†said Hodgson.
“I believe they were only interested in two of our players and they are not going to buy them. Moratti said they are not going to do that,” he added.
