No reply from the Gardaí? Nearly half of stations have no email access

Nearly half of the country's Garda stations are not connected to the Garda network and have no access to emails, it has been claimed.

It has been revealed that nearly half of the country’s Garda stations are not connected to the Garda network and have no access to emails. So no ‘lolcats’ for them.

Responding to a parliamentary question from Fianna Fáil’s Dara Calleary, the Justice Minister, Alan Shatter, admitted that 40 per cent of the country’s Garda stations are not connected to the Garda network. Well that’s a bit of a shambles now isn’t it?

Only 421 of the country’s 703 Garda stations are “networked locations”, reports breakingnews.ie.

“How is it possible that in this day and age, 4 out of 10 Garda stations in this country are not ‘networked’ and do not have email access?” Deputy Calleary questioned.

“It is absurd that such a basic necessity for the operation of any office would be so lacking within our Garda force.”

Well, at least we know they’re not slacking off by email ridiculous mug shots to each other.
