Northern Irish man calls 999 to complain about his local Chinese take-a-way

There are plenty of reasons for calling 999 in an emergency, but calling them up to complain about your local Chinese take-a-way definitely isn’t one of them.

A hungry punter from Co. Down called 999 recently and told the emergency service staff members that there was a problem with his local Chinese take-a-way. Now, at this point you’re probably thinking he called in to tell them that the restaurant was on fire, or that someone was spotted breaking in, but sadly, that was not the case.

The man rang 999 because the restaurant wasn’t answering his phone calls and this obviously made him very distraught… and hungry. Unsurprisingly, 999 staff members reminded the man that the number was for emergencies only, to which he replied that it was an emergency, as he wanted to order a meal.

Here’s what the PSNI in Newtownards had to say on their Facebook page.

We hope the man takes the advice on board…
