Arum: Pacquiao might fight Cotto

Pacquaio v Mayweather? Pacquiao v Cotto? Pacquiao v Foreman? It's all up in the air.

Boxing promoter Bob Arum believes that if the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight does not go ahead then Miguel Cotto could provide opposition for the Filipino.

Arum, not the most reliable of sources in boxing circles, had initially said Antonio Margarito could fill Mayweather’s spot but now claims Cotto would be the more likely contender for a rematch with Pacquaio, if he were to beat Yuri Foreman at Yankee Stadium this week.

“If the Mayweather deal isn’t made, Pacquiao might fight Miguel Cotto, if Cotto beats (Yuri) Foreman for the 154-pound title,” Arum told BoxingScene.com. “I don’t think Manny would fight Yuri Foreman because he says Yuri is too tall”.

The last time Pacquiao and Cotto met it was in a bloody affair for the WBO World welterweight title (as you can see from the picture above) in November of last year. Pac-man won it on a TKO in the 12th round.

It is has been reported that Pacquiao will attend the Cotto-Foreman fight while on a two-week visit to the United States.
