The evolution of gaelic football and hurling over the last decade or so has seen a number of changes to the game with one of the most noticeable things being the changing profile of the inter-county manager.
The guy in charge these days, barring a few exceptions, tends to be a younger man who has just left the inter-county scene. However, the one thing that almost all of them have in common is that they have played for their county at some point.
We decided to look back over the GAA archives and found some great pictures of nine current inter-county GAA managers back in their playing days. Some of these are priceless.
