Political pop chart: Dan Boyle

Green party senator Dan Boyle discusses with JOE his feelings on PCs, women drivers, and Cork Junior C football.

JOE

The Green Party’s Dan Boyle is definitely one of our more prominent senators. The former Cork City South TD was appointed to the Seanad by the Taoiseach following the 2007 election.

He’s a prolific user of Twitter and was catapulted into the news earlier this year when he issued a tweet that played a significant part in hastening Willie O’Dea’s departure from the government’s front bench.

“As regards to Minister O’Dea, I don’t have confidence in him. His situation is compromised. Probably be a few chapters in this story yet,” he tweeted February last.

We fired off an email with some quick questions for the senator. This is how he responded.

What kind of mobile phone do you use? Nokia E71

Mac or PC? PC

What type of car do you drive? I drive a 2001 Suzuki Swift.

Who are better drivers, men or women? Driving skill doesn’t depend on gender.

Any sporting glories you like to brag about
? Scoring a classic goal for Rochestown GAA club in a Cork Junior C league game.

Most famous contact in your phone (politicians don’t count)? Eddie Hobbs

Whose office would you like to be a fly on the wall of? My own. I’m worried what they are saying about me.

What’s the most politically incorrect thing about you? I like to mention that I find women attractive.

Finish the sentence, people are uninspired by politicians because . . .
politicians are uninspiring.
