One Porsche driver in China had the novel idea to alter his licence plates, with good old-fashioned toothpaste.

According to the China Car Times, attempting to hide your licence plate from the police is fairly common practise in China. Drivers try to change the numbers on their plates so that when they pass through a speed trap the camera will register a different number and they get away scot-free.

However, one driver pushed his creative limits to the edge when he decided to use toothpaste to alter the numbers on his beautiful Porsche. The driver attempted to change the two ‘1s’ on his car so that they would look like ‘7s’.

In the image above you can clearly see a police officer as she wipes away the evidence of the driver’s minty fresh idea.

So why exactly was the driver trying to hide his real plate? Funny story actually.

In China, drivers start off with 12 points on their licences and are deducted points for any traffic crimes they commit – like the Irish system, just in reverse.

This Porsche driver already had six points and he was trying his best to avoid another six, otherwise he would lose his licence.

In the end, the driver got his six extra points and ended up losing his licence.

The irony is delicious – and minty.
