Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is set to be given the nod for the Italian manager position after the World Cup, according to media reports.
Italian football federation president Giancarlo Abete is believed to have contacted the Fiorentina president in relation to the switch.
Prandelli is due to meet with Abete when he returns from a tour of Canada with his club on Thursday.
The hugely popular 52-year-old is under contract with Fiorentina until the end of next season. He had been linked with Juventus earlier this season but he ruled the move out, saying he was unwilling to leave Fiorentina until March at the earliest.
