Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz has been suspended from football for six months for disrupting a drugs test before the 2010 World Cup.

Queiroz has been accused of insulting the anti-doping team and acting in such a disruptive manner that it unsettled their work.

The manager admitted to swearing, but denied acting disruptively, with Alex Ferguson acting as his character witness.

The PFF (Portuguese Football Federation) had previously suspended the former Real Madrid manager for a month, with assistant Agostinho Oliveira placed in charge of  the team for the opening two matches against Cyprus and Norway.

Querioz will now miss Portugal’s first four European Championship qualifiers, putting his job as national manager at risk.
